Welcome to the Road to Tyler

 Hi again.

On the last page, we spoke of the existence of a Creator. I could have made many, many more illustrations in support of Creationism, and provided lots of statistical probabilities and so forth. The purpose of this small web site is not to hammer home what I think but to share thoughts with you that you may think about them yourself.

Believe me, we could talk a long time about everything we will touch on together. I can not emphasize enough The Importance of the Bible.

One day I was in a conversation with a friend. We were discussing the Bible. I myself, am an old King James man. Anyway, my friend was a new Christian. He wondered about how I felt about the Bible. His basic question was this. Did I think that everything in the Bible was true or is some of it only story telling designed to make a point.

As I answered him, I found myself illustrating my points by comparing why I said what I said, with a trip I had made to an old friend's house. Because he listened so intently and was impressed by what was said. I, considering this happened over twenty years ago, am going to repeat the story as best I can.

I believe the Bible is The Unerrored Word of God

The way I see it, you have to believe all of the Bible in order to believe any of it. You see, if even one chapter was untrue and we had no way of knowing which, how would we know which part to believe and which part not to.

One day I heard from a very good friend of mine. He had just moved to Tyler Texas and invited me to visit him first chance I got. The friend was very special to me. Like a younger brother and someone I really wanted to visit. He had told me about his home. How he had a room waiting for me. He talked about how nice it was there and how he looked forward to me coming.

Now to tell the truth, I knew nothing about Tyler. I didn't even know there was a place called Tyler let alone how to get there. But you know what. My friend said there was such a place. He was waiting for me. He wanted me to come.

What I did of course, was get a map of Texas. I had recently just moved there myself but lived in the Valley, more then 500 miles away. As I looked at the map, I knew it would be a long trip.

Now driving at night always bothers me because of the glare from oncoming lights. This is one of the reasons I prefer interstates. Now I saw that I had gone around a hundred miles or so, I could take an interstate all the way to Dallas and then east to Tyler. This would be a smooth four lane all the way, including the night driving.

I also saw that I could take the interstate part as far as Waco, about ninty miles before Dallas, there I could turn off onto a state highway.

As I look at this map, I saw some of the state highway was four lane with crossovers, part of it was two lane with many twists and turns. But this road also would be the shortest distance by more than a hundred miles.

I started my trip and as I reached Waco it was turning dark, along with this it had started to rain. My turn off was fast approaching and I had a decision to make. Take the interstate, a smoother safer ride or turn and face over a hundred miles of oncoming traffic, with the glare and the rain and the turns and twisting of the highway.

I turned and took the state road. You see, I knew it wasn't the easiest way to go, not the safest way to go and certainly not the most comforting way for me. But I had a friend, He had a place for me. He was waiting, and I wanted to see him.

When I think about that map, I think of all the roads. All the ways I could of went. Smooth roads with places I could drive by and stop and see interesting things. Places to go and have some fun along the way. But many things can happen on a trip. The one thing I wanted was to see my friend. He had a place for me and he was waiting.

There's something else about the map I think of. How I put my trust in it. Silly as it may sound, how did I know it was right. Just because it shows a red line, should I believe it will be a good paved road. Because it shows there is placed to stop for gas and refeshment, should I believe that.

Well, I have another friend, his name is Jesus. He told me he had a home and a place for me. He has also given me a map, it's called the Bible. This map tells me the way, it also warns me about the roads that look good, but delay my journey. It tells me not to stop along the way. It warns me that the road is not always smooth and without danger. But if I follow this map, it will lead me to His home. He has a place for me and He is waiting.

If you don't already have confidence in God's written Word, I know it might seem hard, But trust me, He will show you the way. For the Spirit will give you knowledge. Pray before you read and ask to be shown the way. Trust me, there is no contradiction within it, as long as you don't put it there.

Some people think it don't apply today, things have changed, the world has changed. They want to apply new standards, make changes that suit them and their purpose. But you know what the Bible says? God's Word Is Forever Settled In The Heavens. He is the same today, as He was in the beginning and as He will be tomorow.

This is why we can depend on Him. This is why we can trust Him, He will not change His mind. He will not tell us one thing and do another. The Bible is our map, follow it and we shall find our way. Remember this which is written in the Word. There is a way that seems right to men but this way will lead you, not to Him but away from Him. Now that is my paraphasing, not a quote.

There is one thing I will mention. In time, if I am able we can talk about the Bible, how to study and understand the meaning of things. For now, I only wanted to point out that the Bible is as important in a Christian's life as the beating of his heart. Everything you will ever hear about our Lord will, or should have it's foundation in the Bible. Trust me, no better yet, trust God, for I am a man, I will error, I will in some way let you down. He will not. Trust Him trust in His Word.

I hope at some point to expand this into a web site and provide helpful links. I hope also, to set up an email address so that you can request discussing a particular subject or doctrine. I again want to emphasize that while I myself am Baptist, I am not here to promote a particular denomination. I will not argue with anyone but only offer help to those who seek it. I will never ask anyone for anything.

Our next page concerns God's Law. It's a long page so make sure you're refreshed before you start. Till then always remember.

 God Loves You
